Built wins $30m North Queensland project

Built Holdings Pty Ltd announced today it has secured the $30million luxury residential development construction contract for the Lanai apartment complex in Mackay, North Queensland.

The 12 storey, 80 apartment complex is being developed by the Chamos Group on the edge of the Pioneer River, one of two blue water rivers in North Queensland. Apartment prices range from $395,000 to $2.4 million - and are due for completion at the close of 2008.

The new residential development is the latest in a succession of Queensland projects won by Built, including its recent work on the extension of the iconic GPT Riverside Center retail precinct in Brisbane.

"We've been winning a lot of business in Queensland," says Mr Marco Rossi, Built's Managing Director, "It's a very strong market and we're positioning ourselves to leverage off this strength - we've put together a very strong team."

The emphasis on five-star quality for the Lanai apartments in Mackay meant Built was a natural fit to manage the construction. The luxury, high quality development is destined to be a landmark for the city of Mackay - demanding a high quality finish.

It is also a development that will have a high profile in more ways than one - it will be the one of the tallest buildings in Mackay when it is complete.

Mackay Mayor, Julie Boyd, recently said that "inner-city living such as that offered by Lanai will help revitalise Mackay's CBD."  Lanai is the first high-rise approved under the Mackay City Council's new town plan.

Built's early appointment by The Chamos Group, a Sydney-based developer, allowed all stakeholders to work closely through the design phase in a collaborative partnership to fast track the project.

"Working within agreed budget parameters, the time up-front was used to de-risk the project for all stakeholders and add value through smart design management," explains Mr Rossi, "We focus on what is right rather than who is right, thus ensuring the greatest likelihood of success for all involved.  This collaborative approach is the basis of Built's business model - it's why we started and what continues to drive our growth."
