CHARTER HALL & BUILT EXCEED EXPECTATIONS IN RAISING OVER $90,000 FOR YOUNGCARE
The $70,000 target set for the 40 Creek Street Youngcare Fundraising Campaign has been blitzed by over $20,000, flying in the face of Global Financial Crisis trends and surprising Youngcare, as well as Built and Charter Hall Group.
On Wednesday 9 September at Youngcare's Sinnamon Park Apartments, Charter Hall and Built will present a cheque to Youngcare for over $90,000 following a 10-month long fundraising campaign.
Charter Hall and Built joined forces in November last year to establish the 40 Creek Street Youngcare Fundraising drive to raise funds for Youngcare through their refurbishment program at 40 Creek Street in Brisbane's Golden Triangle.
The successful fundraising incorporated inventive initiatives such as charging staff for onsite parking and workplace cooking competitions, as well as various other events and workplace giving involving staff contractors, project consultants, tenants and the community. A recent initiative which captured the imagination and attention of staff, media and the public was the celebrity abseiling event with World Cup Rugby Legend Tim Horan and V8 Supercar Champion Jamie Whincup abseiling down the façade of 40 Creek Street. Fundraisers also organised a Golf Day with Powderfinger band members joining competitors on the green.
The cheque presentation at Sinnamon Park Apartments will provide Charter Hall and Built with the perfect insight into the application of their donation, with the $90,000 contributing to Youngcare's second project to establish apartments on the Gold Coast. Design and construction of this second Apartment project will be based upon the $10 million 16 state of the art, fully self contained Youngcare apartments at Sinnamon Park.
Youngcare CEO Marina Vit said it is vitally important for us to have the wonderful support of sponsors such as Built and Charter Hall Group.
"While these amazing contributions - such as the donation from Built and Charter Hall - are a huge help, there is always an ongoing need for support to prop up the numerous Youngcare projects we need to get off the ground," Ms Vit said.
"Built and Charter Hall Group's contribution extended well beyond the financial assistance with the 40 Creek Street Youngcare Campaign taking the Youngcare message across Australia to their offices in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and Auckland.
"Built and Charter Hall through their fundraising and awareness raising are helping Youngcare to put hope, possibility and dignified care into the lives of young people with 24/7 care needs. It is important to recognise that there are still so many young people in dire need of help and we need the financial support of both corporations and individuals across all of Australia to help us establish more Youngcare facilities and support services."
Charter Hall's Development Director, Chris Chapple said: "We are very proud of the outstanding result achieved through the 40 Creek Street fundraising campaign, not only from a fundraising perspective, but also in the collaborative way in which Charter Hall, Built and Youngcare have successfully worked together in reaching this great outcome."
"Charter Hall looks forward to helping other relevant causes increase their raise awareness through the Group's future development projects."
Built's Managing Director, Brett Mason said: "The outstanding success of the 40 Creek Street Fundraising campaign is testament to the team's dedication to and enthusiasm for a very worthy cause. Charter Hall, Built and Youngcare have all delivered above and beyond expectations, and the funds raised will go long way in creating homes for a very deserving group of Queenslanders."
