CHARTER HALL & BUILT RAISE THE ROOF AND EXCEED YOUNGCARE FUNDRAISING TARGET BY $20,000

Charter Hall Group and Built are delighted to announce that following recent fundraising events, the original target of raising $70,000 for Youngcare, through the 40 Creek Street Youngcare Fundraising campaign, has been exceeded by $20,000, bringing the total raised to $90,000.

Charter Hall and Built joined forces in November last year to establish the 40 Creek Street Youngcare Fundraising initiative to raise funds for Youngcare through Charter Hall's latest refurbishment program at 40 Creek Street in Brisbane's Golden Triangle. Youngcare is a nationally registered Brisbane based charity formed to provide relevant and dignified lifestyles for young Australians with high care needs.

The fundraising initiative has been extremely successful with funds raised through events, workplace giving, contractors, project consultants, tenants and the community. Recent initiatives include the celebrity abseiling event with notable celebrities such as; World Cup Rugby Legend, Tim Horan; V8 Supercar Champion, Jamie Whincup; World Superbike Champion, Troy Bayliss; and former professional rugby league player Ben Ikin, abseiling down the façade of 40 Creek Street to help raise funds and create awareness for the cause. On 24 April, members from the legendary band Powderfinger, Bernard Fanning, John Collins and Darren Middleton added some talent and glamour in participating in the 40 Creek Youngcare Fundraising Golf Day in Brisbane.

The 40 Creek Street fundraising initiative is now planning its final event, which is a celebrity poker night.

Charter Hall's Development Director, Chris Chapple said: "The 40 Creek Street fundraising campaign has been an outstanding result, not only from a fundraising perspective, but also in the way Charter Hall, Built and Youngcare have successfully worked together in reaching this great outcome". Adding further: "The success of this initiative further demonstrates Charter Hall's ability to understand and work collaboratively with its key stakeholders to achieve outstanding results on all of its projects".

Brett Mason, Built Director said: "I'm incredibly proud of the results of the 40 Creek Street fundraising campaign. The efforts of Charter Hall, Built, Youngcare and those that generously donated will go a long way in creating homes for a very deserving group of Queenslanders".

Chairman and co-founder of Youngcare, David Conry, spoke of Youngcare's appreciation of Charter Hall and Built's support. "The passion and commitment shown by all the team at Built and Charter Hall in raising $90,000 for Youngcare in such a short period of time is simply amazing. They are truly helping us to change lives and we are so grateful", Mr Conry said.

40 Creek Street was purchased by Charter Hall's Opportunity Fund No.5 (CHOF5) in June 2008 and once complete in July, will offer approximately 12,000m2 of refurbished commercial office space across 17 levels and will target a minimum 4 Star NABERS Energy rating.
