AECOM (NSW)

Contract value: $16.0m
Architect: BVN
Completion date: June 2011

The project represents the co-location of 850 staff within nine floors in two separate tenancies of the new 420 George commercial tower. The design cuts large voids through the existing building, linked by interconnecting stairs, to create a dynamic connected and sustainable workspace.

One of the key challenges was the feature steel stair truss, spanning more than 25metres, between levels 5-8. Working with AECOM’s engineers, Built facilitated working sessions to ensure the stairs were manufactured in modular components to enable delivery to the floor without any modification to the façade and use of the goods lift.

The outcome demonstrates Built’s ability to overcome complex fabrication and logistics problems to achieve an impressive design and engineering outcome for AECOM’s workplace.
