The Post, Potts Point (NSW)

Contract value: $15.0m
Client: Ashington Group
Architect: Burley Katon Halliday
Completion date: December 2007

The Post project involved the refurbishment of the former Potts Point Post Office to create a unique mixed use development, including 41 office suites 595m² ground floor retail space, 605m2 lower ground retail food emporium and a car park.

The original large, windowless structure now has a new façade to Macleay Street, with a five storey glass wall and colonnade. The building also includes high performance glass and insulation, mixed mode ventilation with operable windows and automated airconditioning and energy efficient lighting.

Around 50 per cent of the existing floors were demolished, with the addition of new floors between old floors, and the basement was demolished and excavated. The project involved three construction programs running at once - basement, ground floorand the formwork. This approach saved around three or four months.
