The Queen Victoria Building (QVB) has undergone a remarkable refurbishment which resulted in one of Sydney's oldest buildings returned to her former glory.
Designed to enhance the heritage and architectural values of the building, the refurbishment ensured the QVB continues to set the standard as a world-class shopping destination and keeps pace with commercial realities of the 21st century.
Reflecting the building's original design, the refurbishment included a Victorian-inspired heritage colour scheme and frameless glass shop fronts that highlight the magnificent QVB columns and other architectural features.
In addition there was also an upgrade to lighting fixtures and building services including car park elevators, escalators and landings.
Heritage Buildings
Work on heritage listed buildings is varied and highly specialised. The beauty and character of the building needs to be maintained and enhanced which adds a degree of complexity to these projects.
Often, the aspects of the building that give it its unique characteristics require a unique building approach. Matching surface materials and finishes, managing regulatory bodies and satisfying interested stakeholders requires a higher level team on the project.
Our team at Built have the skills and experience to manage the unique characteristics of heritage work, even down to recording the progress of works for historical purposes.
