Delivering in a
live environment

Project

Collins Place

As head contractor Built helped to create Collins Place’s vision for “a refreshed lobby experience that emphasises light, openness and community connection by expanding and revitalising the spaces to enrich visitor and user experience.”

Architect: Grimshaw

Completion date: April 2020

Due to changing demands along Collins Place’s frontage, several ground floor shop fronts and back of house areas were repurposed to create an extension of the working environment. Built’s robust methodology around managing the live environment works and minimising disruption to stakeholders and tenants were fundamental to during the programme of works.

To provide natural lighting beyond the space frame large sections of precast facade panels were removed and replaced with energy efficient glazed curtainwall – metal panel ceiling joints are perfectly aligned with vertical mullions as a subliminally pleasing aesthetic impact.

In creating greater connection throughout a cantilevered stair wends its way from the Ground floor to Level 2, while the entry void draws the eye to meet natural stone and timber finishes. Flexible workspaces, meeting rooms, and breakout areas on Levels 1 and 2 aptly named ‘third space’ allows Collins Place’s building tenants and Sofitel’s guests respite from their usual surrounds.

The project’s success is a testament to the project delivery team and their commitment to uplifting Collins Place’s commercial, hospitality, and food and beverage offerings.
