Partnering with our clients to support the community

Since 2020, Built has been delivering a national rollout of refurbishments to NAB branches and business banking centres, with over 75 projects completed so far across Australia.

Throughout the delivery of the national rollout works, Built has sought additional ways to support NAB and create value.

“Towards the end of 2021 we reached out to NAB to see if there were any charitable works or social impact initiatives they were working on that we could be involved with,” said Brent Longhurst, Senior Contract Administrator at Built.

“It was great timing as they were in the process of planning a new office fitout for the Alannah and Madeline Foundation (AMF), a not-for-profit organisation that they have been supporting for several years. AMF works closely with children who have experienced violence and trauma by offering care and prevention services,” said Brent.

NAB provides AMF with office space in South Melbourne free of charge for their network of around 100 volunteers to operate from. While also completing a refurbishment of NAB’s South Melbourne branch, Built worked with NAB to deliver a fitout to AMF’s office space.

“By managing both refurbishments in parallel, we were able to create efficiencies by using the same subcontractors and consultants on both projects so we could negotiate discounted rates and pro bono work for AMF. All off-site services by Built were provided to AMF free of charge,” said Brent.

The fitout for AMF included new workstations and chairs, an 18-person conference room, kitchen and appliances, reception joinery, storage areas and a dedicated space for volunteers to pack “buddy bags”. The space also included updated branding with large-scale wall graphics installed to display the Foundation’s focus areas and values.

The AMF fitout took less than four weeks and came in well below budget. AMF have now settled into their new space and their volunteers are making the most of the new facilities.

“This project has been a great example of our Built Worthy value, Love what you do. The team really went the extra mile to make the space as good as it could be for AMF and now being able to see it in use by the volunteers has made it all worthwhile. We look forward to continuing to work with NAB on other social impact initiatives,” said Brent.

More than 1,500kms north of Melbourne, the Built team has also been supporting NAB in their efforts to help local communities. Following the devastating flood events in Northern NSW earlier this year, Built has fast-tracked the delivery of NAB’s rebuilt Lismore branch, which was the first bank to reopen in the area.

“Through our delivery of a national rollout of refurbishments across NAB’s network, we were able to draw upon our extensive knowledge of their design standards to help expedite the overall process,” said Tobi Peuten, Senior Project Manager at Built.

Built recognised the vital importance of the project for the community and worked closely with Lismore City Council to secure planning approvals swiftly and open the rebuilt branch as quickly as possible.
