Live environment health works

Project

Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre – Victorian Gamma Knife Service

Built fitout a cold-shell bunker and modified surrounding areas in Peter Mac at VCCC, to accommodate for the delivery and installation of the Leksell Gamma Knife® Icon, which is a stereotactic radiosurgery unit.

Works included the extension of existing services and structural elements in the bunker including concrete and anchor points as well as access points into B1 (modifications to the monorail and removal of gatic) and the final fitout and commissioning.

The works were undertaken within a live operating radiation therapy department requiring the team to adhere to strict noise, vibration and dust control restrictions to ensure the hospital could continue to treat patients throughout the programme.
