The fitout comprised a discrete, purpose built, short-stay unit inclusive of 8 treatment space (6 beds, 2 chairs) located within the existing RPH Emergency Department (ED).

Patients presenting to the ED with acute mental health problems will now have the opportunity to be assessed in the ED and according to set inclusion and exclusion criteria streamed through to the mental health observation area.
