Hanwha Armoured Vehicle Centre of Excellence (H-ACE)

Built has delivered the Hanwha Armoured vehicle Centre of Excellence (H-ACE), a state-of-the-art manufacturing, development, and testing facility, two and a half months ahead of schedule. Handing over Stage 1 to client Hanwha Defence Australia (HDA) and client Project Manager, Conscia.

The 32,000sqm facility will initially be focused on the production of Hanwha’s AS9 self-propelled howitzer and AS10 Armoured Ammunition Resupply vehicles under LAND 8116 Phase 1 Protected Mobile Fires program. The plant will also feature a 1,500m test track, integrated training wing, deep-water test facility and obstacle course, along with the potential for multiple assembly lines

With stringent quality plans, procedures, and inspections in place we were able to optimise efficiency, reduce timelines, and improve overall project outcomes.

Located at Avalon Airport, near Geelong, a region with a rich history of vehicle manufacturing, the H-ACE facility has created job opportunities for skilled workers. We collaborated closely with subcontractors to generate local employment and establish a strong, long-term presence in advanced manufacturing in the Geelong area, involving over 200 people at the peak of construction. We are proud to have exceeded our social procurement targets, achieving 28% local job creation and a 4% Indigenous spend.
