Refurbishment of luxury hotel brand

Project

InterContinental Hotel, Perth

Creation of a 5-star luxury hotel into existing structure within the Perth CBD. The project saw Built win the 2018 MBA Award Winner for Best Refurbishment / Renovation ($50–$100 m).

Value: $57m

Client: UNIR Hotels

Architect: Woods Bagot

Completion date: September 2017

The scope of works included a total demolition back to the core structure and construction of 240 rooms over 15 levels (including adaption of the basement into new back of house areas), new ground floor lobby, restaurant and bar, mezzanine level club rooms, meeting rooms and terrace lounge. Extensions at podium levels increased floor areas and maximised tenancy potential.

This project had critical acoustic and fire separation to meet local standards and client expectations.

Built integrated three mock-up rooms into the ECI phase of the project, allowing adequate engagement time with suppliers and material sampling reviews with architects and client prior to the main construction works.

A project specific façade design methodology was implemented by Built, which allowed external works to be undertaken concurrently whilst the main hotel refurbishment works continued in stages below.
