The refurbishment involved creating a contemporary hotel environment in the heritage shell of these iconic structures, upgrading of all services and reinstating key heritage features of both interior and exterior facades. Structural works to join the two buildings was undertaken while the State Theatre remained fully operational.

The first in the portfolio of QT Hotels for Built, our collaborative approach and long-term partnership with Event Hospitality & Entertainment, was one of the main reasons Built were chosen to undertake this project.

This project was recognised as an MBA Award winner for Adaptive Re-use of Historic Building, $10m & Over.
