Queanbeyan East Public School
Architect: GHD Woodhead
Completion date: November 2019
Taking place in four stages, the school was able to remain operational whilst the works were carried out. The four stages required careful planning and coordination of the works, with deliveries scheduled outside of school drop-off and pick-up times to ensure safety and minimal disruption.
Stage 1 involved the conversion of two existing classrooms into the school’s new library, replacing the demountable building on site.
Stage 2 involved removal of the demountable library building and demolition of a covered outdoor learning area (COLA) to make way for the new 1500m2 classroom building.
Stage 3 involved the construction of the new building housing 11 classrooms, bathrooms, store rooms, and an enclosed forum with stepped seating.
Stage 4 involved the construction of a new canteen and COLA, and landscaping including an amphitheatre.
