State of the art education space

Project

Deakin Nyaal

Built completed an immersive learning space enabling students to virtually interact with other places and settings throughout time.

Value: $3m

Client: Deakin University

Architect: K20 Architecture

Completion date: February 2020

Redeveloping the former teaching spaces at Deakin University’s Waurn Ponds campus, the project provides new formal and informal learning spaces to create an identifiable ‘home’ for Arts and Education Students.

The Nyaal offers a unique, shared immersive and collaborative teaching environment through a combination of infrastructure and specialist AV equipment.

Situated at the centre of the Waurn Ponds campus, the project presented several challenges including the requirement to not only demolish existing internal sections, but also open up the existing façade of the live building environment to facilitate the integration of the extension.
