Collaborative ECI project with Aboriginal Health and Community Services

Project

Winnunga New Community Health Facility

Built was engaged under a two stage Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) contract for the design and construction of Winnunga New Community Health Facility (NCHF). This important facility provides health care facilities to the local aboriginal community.

Value: $18.4m

Client: Winnunga AHCS

Architect: Judd Studio

Completion date: February 2021

The project comprises a two-storey new build with basement parking, incorporating rooms for counselling, GP consulting, dental surgery, breakout spaces and staff areas, as well as larger community spaces.

Works also included demolition and refurbishment of some areas of the existing building to create an internal courtyard space between the new and existing buildings.

Built worked with Winnunga Nimmityjah Aboriginal Health and Community Services (AHCS), and Judd Studios to provide buildability and value management options, and develop the design ready for construction.

Winnunga are extremely proud of their new facility as it gives the indigenous community a significant boost in healthcare capacity as well as providing space for additional services including social and educational programs.
The project is now seen as the benchmark facility for Aboriginal managed health and community services across Australia.
